Sejarah Poltek SSN

The formation of the SSN Polytechnic began with crypto education in 1946, simultaneously with the establishment of a crypto organization in the Ministry of Defence, which at that time was known as the Ministry of Defense Code Section B (Intelligence). In 1947, crypto education was formed with an apprenticeship system. After the crypto organization upgraded its status to a special agency/institution called Djawatan sandi in 1950, the crypto education system changed to become Sandiman and Juru Sandi education. Because Sandiman's education was considered to be lacking in cryptographic analysis, the education for Encryption Experts – Brevet A and Brevet B was formed. Nevertheless, Sandiman and Ciphers education continues to exist under the name Sandiman Training - Level II Encryption Expert and Encryptor - Level I Encryption Expert.

At the end of 1969, a New Style Encryption Expert Education was opened, which used a combined curriculum for Brevet A Decode Expert Education and Sandiman Education. In 1973 the New Style Encryption Expert education was declared de facto as the State Encryption Academy (AKSARA). This was confirmed by the Decree of the Head of the National Crypto Agency (Lemsaneg) No. 078.II.4.74 of 1974 and Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0135/U/1975 concerning the ratification of the National Crypto Academy.

Through an assessment and review process regarding the feasibility of the education system, curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, based on the letter of the Minister of National Education (Mendiknas) Number 19/MPN/02 of 2002 the Minister of National Education judged (D-III) literacy worthy of being upgraded to (D-IV) National Crypto High School (STSN). Based on RI Presidential Decree No. 22 of 2003 stipulates the establishment of STSN. This Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia also stipulates that AKSARA is integrated into National Crypto High School.

STSN opened education for batch I in 2002. This year academic education was held based on the 2002 curriculum. The 2002 curriculum set STSN to organize two fields of study, namely Crypto Management and Coding Engineering. Crypto Engineering itself is further divided into 2 areas of interest, namely Design Engineering and Crypto Engineering. STSN's long journey until 2019 has gone through four curriculum changes, adjusting to user needs and progress in the world of education. The STSN curriculum underwent revisions in 2004, 2005, 2007, and the last curriculum used was a revision in 2016.

Through the considerations of the Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) in BSSN Regulation Number 12 of 2019, that in improving the quality and competence of human resources in the cyber and cipher field for BSSN and other Ministries/Institutions, an institutional change was made to the National Crypto High School to become a Polytechnic National Cyber and Crypto (Polytechnic SSN). The change to Polytechnic SSN was also based on a letter from the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Number 03/M/I/2018 and based on the approval of the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform Number B/1007/M.KT.01/2019. The long history of the formation of the Polytechnic SSN has made it a tertiary institution that excels in coding and is serious about cyber security.
